I'm Heather, the Cat Sitter, and Owner of Fox River Cat Sitter, based in McHenry, Illinois. If you’re looking for someone who treats your cats like family, you’re in the right place! My mission is simple: to make sure every kitty feels loved, safe, and understood while their humans are away. I’ve been an animal lover my entire life, and there is nothing I enjoy more than building a unique bond with each cat I meet. Whether it's high-energy playtime with a feather wand or quiet lap time for a senior cat, I tailor every visit to what your cat needs most.
About Me
My lifelong journey with animals began in Chicago, just a short walk from the Lincoln Park Zoo. My earliest memories are of daily visits to the Farm-in-the-Zoo and the Lion House, which sparked a deep curiosity and love for all creatures that has only grown over the decades.

My professional path in pet care started as a teenager, in a high-rise condo building that, officially, didn’t allow pets. Despite the rules, I discovered a hidden community of "incognito" cat owners who needed a reliable and highly trusted caretaker. Providing that peace of mind became my specialty early on, and it wasn't long before my own family welcomed two cats of our own.
Experience Across Every Stage of Life
Since moving to my own home, I’ve cared for cats at every stage—from fragile 3-day-old kittens requiring around-the-clock attention to 20-year-old seniors needing gentle, specialized care. My homelife has also included caring for rabbits, ferrets, chinchillas, and sugar gliders, and I have maintained freshwater aquariums for over 35 years.
Rooted in the Community
For the last 25 years, my family and I have called Lake and McHenry Counties home. Before settling in McHenry Township in 2015, I spent years active in dog sports, training and competing with AKC Siberian Huskies. Today, our lively household includes a Siberian Husky, Border Collie, two Persian cats, a flock of backyard chickens, two ball pythons, and a betta fish. Caretaking is simply part of who I am.
